Our story

Maxwells was started to solve a problem we kept seeing on high streets and in shopping baskets alike: supermarkets no longer offer the quality you rightly expect from your local butcher, greengrocer, or farm shop. At the same time, brilliant British farmers and food makers often have no straightforward way to get their products in front of customers across the UK.

We built Maxwells to bring those two sides together — the standards of a trusted high street shop, with the reach of ordering from home.

We visit every supplier regularly. We only ever order direct from them. Your food arrives into us from the people who made it, and goes out to you in our state-of-the-art chilled packaging, so it reaches your door in the condition we would want on our own table.

That is what we mean when we say we connect the farmer to the fork — no unnecessary steps, no anonymous supply chain, just exceptional British food from people we know and trust.
